Massage therapy is one of the oldest healing arts, dating back over 3000 years. Medical massage is goal focused, out-come based massage. It is very successful at treating or assisting the treatment of a variety of conditions.
Some of the benefits of Massage Therapy include:
Massage therapy is especially helpful during times of injury rehabilitation, pregnancy, athletic training and during and after cancer treatment. The best way to learn more about how massage therapy may help your specific concerns is to talk to your massage therapist.
Many insurance providers provide medical massage coverage. Your primary care provider or your chiropractor will need to provide you with a massage referral, in essence a prescription for massage. Massage referrals are transferable and may be taken to any licensed massage therapist. Included on the massage referral will be the diagnosis codes for your conditions and and treatment parameters regarding frequency and duration of massage therapy sessions. Your massage therapist will keep medical notes documenting your treatment sessions and progress on the conditions being treated.
Fees & Insurance Billing:
Insurance billing service is available for some carriers. If insurance billing services are not provided payment in full for medical massage services is expected at the time of service. When payment is made at the time of service a prompt payment discount is applied to the medical massage fees.
The fee for a one (1) hour medical massage appointment when insurance billing services are provided is $90.00.
The fee for a one (1) hour medical massage appointment with the prompt payment discount is $75.00.
During each appointment there will be an intake form to complete, a discussion regarding changes in your condition since your last medical massage appointment, and a current assessment. If insurance billing services are not provided you will be given a superbill that you may send to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
